Do heat pumps work in Utah winters?
Yes. Modern cold-climate heat pumps keep heating well below freezing. Many Northern Utah homes pair a heat pump with a gas furnace (a dual-fuel system), so the heat pump handles cooling and mild weather and the furnace takes over on the coldest nights.
What is a ductless mini-split?
A mini-split is an outdoor unit connected by a small refrigerant line to one or more indoor units mounted on a wall or ceiling. It heats and cools without any ductwork, and each indoor unit can be set to its own temperature.
Can a mini-split heat and cool a garage or shop?
Yes, garages and shops are one of the most common uses. It works best when the space is insulated, and we size the system for the room so it can keep up in both summer and winter.
Can I add a heat pump to my existing furnace?
In many homes, yes. A heat pump can replace a standard AC condenser and work alongside your existing gas furnace. We check your furnace, ductwork, and electrical panel to make sure it's a good match.
Are mini-splits a good option for older homes without ducts?
They're often the best option. Instead of cutting in new ductwork, a mini-split only needs a small hole through the wall for the line set, which makes it a good fit for older homes, additions, and finished basements.
